Two TVs means two streams, not two apps
The limit that matters in a two-TV household is simultaneous streams, not installations. Installing the app on a second television costs nothing and is not what any provider is counting. What is counted is how many streams are playing at the same moment, and a single-stream plan will refuse the second one the instant it starts.

Sizing the connection for two at once
Bandwidth is additive and it is sustained, not peak. Two 4K streams need roughly 50 Mbps held steadily for as long as both are playing, on top of whatever else the household is doing. Two 1080p streams need roughly 20 Mbps on the same basis. A connection that passes a speed test at 60 Mbps once is not the same as a connection that holds 50 Mbps for three hours on a Saturday evening.
The figures worth planning against are 25 Mbps per 4K stream and 10 Mbps per 1080p stream. Add headroom on top: a game console downloading an update, a video call, or a third person on a phone all take from the same pipe.
Upload speed is irrelevant here and is often quoted at people who are worried about buffering. Streaming is a download; a 500/20 connection and a 500/500 connection behave identically for two TVs. Wired, Wi-Fi, and the room that always breaks
In a two-TV house, the second television is usually the one with the problem, because it is usually the one furthest from the router. The main set is often wired or one wall away; the bedroom or kitchen set is two floors up and on the far side of a wall the 5 GHz band does not like.
Ethernet to both televisions is the answer whenever it is physically possible, and a powerline adapter or a MoCA adapter over existing coax is the answer when it is not. A mesh node placed near the second TV is the next best option. Simply buying more internet speed does not fix a weak signal on the second set, and that is the most common wasted upgrade in this situation.
If both televisions run over Wi-Fi, put them on the 5 GHz band where the signal allows it and leave 2.4 GHz for devices that do not move much data. Two 4K streams over a congested 2.4 GHz band on an older router will stutter regardless of how fast the incoming line is.
Different content on each TV, and the same content on both
Two streams means two independent sessions, so the two televisions can watch entirely different channels at the same time. There is no requirement that they be on the same programme, and no penalty for switching independently.
Watching the same channel on both sets still uses two streams. Each television opens its own session to the server, and the fact that the content is identical makes no difference to the count. Households that want the same match playing in two rooms sometimes assume this is free; it is not, and it is worth knowing before the second TV refuses to start on the night of a fixture.
Catch-up playback counts as a stream in exactly the same way. Someone replaying yesterday's episode in the bedroom while the living room watches live is using both of a two-stream allowance, which is a good argument for sizing one tier above what the household thinks it needs.
Two different devices, two different setups
The two televisions in a house are rarely the same age or the same platform, and the setup differs accordingly. A Fire TV Stick or an Android TV device on the second television is the pragmatic answer in most houses, and it is usually cheaper than the effort of making a nine-year-old smart TV cooperate. It also gives both sets the same interface, which matters more than it sounds when someone else in the household has to work it.
Whichever combination you end up with, install and sign in on both before the evening you actually need them. The setup takes about five minutes per device, and doing it under time pressure while a match is starting is how the second TV ends up unwatched.

For a two-television household: a 2-device plan, a connection that sustains 50 Mbps if both sets will run 4K, and a wired or well-bridged link to whichever set is furthest from the router. That combination handles the ordinary case without over-buying.
